Abstract: | This paper's authors present their experience of the implementation of lean thinking and Six Sigma in pharmaceutical (drugs) research and development (R&D). Lean Sigma is successfully used to improve the development of new pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. Yet, the value of the application of lean thinking and Six Sigma ideas to R&D is controversial. Herein, literature is reviewed, and the methods, tools, benefits and barriers are discussed with implementation recommendations. |
