Abstract:Since the 1980s, the use of anti-dumping and countervailing policy has become widespread in a range of countries. For example, Keith Anderson discusses aspects of the increased use of these measures in the United States and notes their popularity in such diverse countries as Brazil, Finland, South Korea and Sweden. This article focuses on Australia's anti-dumping and countervailing policy, especially on changes made in 1988 to the whole system of dealing with unfairly traded goods under Articles VI and XVI of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
