Abstract:The aim of this study is to examine (with corporate communication and governance having the main emphasis of the study) the interrelation of reputation with corporate performance in a crisis situation and consider the attributes that create the balance between strong recovery, bare survival and failure. The authors study the topic through case studies from UK and Australia and also review the debate on reputation and reputation management. Findings from the case studies indicate that for example: poor management, unethical practices, a lack of engagement with stakeholders and lack of preparedness for crisis communication significantly or terminally had a negative impact on the organisations.
