Abstract:The problem of sexual harassment in the workplace is discussed. Earlier research work conducted in the US and UK is mentioned. Research findings from a lot of Australian studies are summarized. The amount of harassment of women in industry proved to be significant: over half of the women surveyed had been subjected to it. Of the 120 women contacted in this research, 100 usable questionnaires were returned. The women covered a wide range of occupations. The average age of the respondents 28.5 years. The present study suggests that over four out of five women had been sexually harassed by colleagues. The sample had experienced five types of harassment. Respondents' reactions to the situation are analyzed and some conclusions are drawn.
