Abstract:A political and economical overview of Yugoslavia is followed by its brief geographic description and demographic tables. There were some 7.4 million households in 1989 with an average size of 3.21 persons. Housing facilities are analyzed for a dwelling stock of 6.95 million. Incomes and expenditures are analyzed, and total consumer spending 1989 in Yugoslavia by commodity groups and services are tabulated. Consumer spending forecasts cannot be made. Consumer lifestyles are reported. Media coverage, advertising patterns and restrictions, retail and food distribution are discussed with a table showing retail sales 1985-1989.
