Abstract:The recovery of activity in most countries of Central and Eastern Europe continues to strengthen, with a strong contribution from exports. In Russia, aggregate output seems to be gradually turning around, notwithstanding further sectoral declines. Unemployment generally remains high, and fiscal strains persist in several countries. Disinflation efforts are complicated by the monetary impact of the build-up of foreign exchange reserves in the Czech republic and Poland. China and the Dynamic Asian Countries are now showing signs of a deceleration of activity.
