Abstract: | The paper explores the multi-product production planning problem in the presence of work-force learning (MPPL). In the setting, the work-force productivity reflects a learning curve effect which can either increase or decrease as a function of previous production volume. This research advances the understanding of the MPPL along a number of dimensions. MPPL is formulated as a non-linear mixed-integer programming problem. Problem complexity is established, demonstarting that it is strongly NP-hard. Some important economic properties of production planning in the presence of learning are also discussed. |
