| Abstract: | The market is divided into five principal sectors: cooking appliances, refrigeration appliances, laundry appliances, dishwashers and microwave ovens. Italy is the largest manufacturer of domestic appliances in Europe, accounting for some 40% of European production. The market for large kitchen appliances continued to slow down in 1991 with expansion estimated at just 1.3%. Microwave ovens are the most buoyant and fast growing sector of the market. Free-standing electric cookers are in a phase of moderate decline. 1991 was a positive year for freezers. Laundry appliances volume sales fell by 3.4% in 1991. Prospects for the Italian white goods markets are relatively favourable. |
