| Abstract: | The tourism market examination focuses on incoming tourists in Greece. It was estimated that in 1989 Greece earned a total of USD 2,750 million from incoming tourism. It represents about 5 percent of the gross domestic product, lower than the proportion in Spain. Earnings from foreign tourism have grown at a faster rate than the economy as a whole. Tables are presented showing earnings 1985-1989 from foreign tourism, arrivals of tourists from abroad 1972-1989, tourist arrivals by nationality 1989, arrivals by mode of transport, figures on accomodation, visits of museums and archeological sites. Outlook is discussed. |
