Abstract: | Total Quality Management (TQM) can be seen as the central element of lean management. The concept of lean management developed from the lean production philosophy which concentrates on industry production has been systematically extended into a more integrative approach. The characteristics of office work and the resulting requirements for a quality-based management are analyzed. It is shown how TQM and the lean administration concept can be combined in order to achieve the optimum of office operations. The prerequisites of TQM in administration and the limits of its application are also demonstrated. |
