| Abstract: | The privatization process in Italy has entered its second stage. The initial phase - the public offering of some of the best-known financial assets - has nearly been concluded alongside several trade sales that followed an active programme of restructuring. The government is now in the process of defining the operational procedures to sell of certain public utilities which currently enjoy a near or actual monopoly position. |
