| Abstract: | The purpose of the paper is to stimulate the discussion about the state of economic science in Slovenia. In the first part, the author discusses a commonly raised question if economics can at all be given the status of science.Despite of his critics of mainstream economics he supports the thesis that economics has developed the theoretical framework which is upgraded with the elements of actual behaviour of economic subjects.It is becoming a science about how the economy is operating and how to improve the economic processes and is considering less and less to be a science which produces mathematical formulas without logical theoretical conclusions.The main issue of the second part of the paper is that economists should test the models about the actual working of economy with the critical discussion resulting in publications.The publications will guarantee the comparison of Slovene economic science with international economic science, and this is discussed in the third part of the paper. |
