Abstract:Overseas markets are now more important to Japanese automakers than the domestic market because they sell more vehicles overseas than at home. The annual sales of vehicles worldwide totaled 48.71 million units in 1994. Europe and North America, with sales in each totaling about 15 million unites, stand out as automakers' most important markets. As is evident from Japanese automakers' medium-term plans announced in June 1995 , the production sites of finished cars are shifting from Japan to overseas locations.
