Abstract:With economies in Asia growing at a fast pace, iron and steel demand in the region has been rising over the past decade. In fact, the supply of iron and steel has fallen behind the sharp growth in demand and widening disparities between supply and demand have begun to present a problem for manufacturing industries in the region. In order to address this problem, in a number of countries in Asia, plans are being implemented for the expansion of existing steel mills and the construction of new mills, some for upstream and some for downstream operations.
