Abstract:Oraganizational researchers have been interested in employee involvement and participative decision making for over 50 years. During the 1970's, research focused on job enrichment, and in the 1980's and 1990's surfaced as employee empowerment. The theme of these related forms of employee involvement has centered on the transformation of relatively powerless individuals into those who possess personal control. This study examines the influence of group controlled decision making (group control) on group performance as moderated by task interdependence.
