Abstract: | Downsizing may encompass the divestiture of unrelated business or the sale of capital assets, but it is primarily associated with the reduction of human resources, whether by layoffs, attrition , redeployment, or early retirement. This paper uses a stress-based approach to develop a framework which identifies the major dependent variables that should be assessed in determining the overall effect and success of downsizing activities on organizations, work groups , and individuals. |
