Abstract:A new strategic architecture has been brought about in the Asia-Pacific region by the end of the Cold War. It is especially so in the East of Asia. The evolution of Russo-Chinese relations has been one of the most significant changes. It is argued in this article that a 'Russo-Chinese partnership' has emerged but falls far short of an 'axis' due to abiding geo-strategic and geo-political divergence of long term interests.
