Abstract:Business relationships are very complex socio-economic phenomena due to history, situational effects, and embedded contextual issues. Part of the complexity and embeddedness arises out of the characteristics of the companies themselves, the nature of their business relationships and their interaction with others. This study investigates to what extent practices in business markets have moved from the traditional "markets/hierarchy" perspective where business relationships are seen as isolated phenomena to the relationships perspective, which stresses interdependence, connectedness and intimate relations.
