Abstract:The authors of the article state that while top companies' reported profits have been heading downhill, their losses have reached unprecedented heights. The authors provide the table of names of the companies, year-end, their profits and sector classification. They state that it was a bad year for business and this survey of UK's 100 most profitable companies inevitably reflects that. The company at number 50 in last year's survey reported 317m pounds of profit, this year's number 50 reported just 206m. Last year's number 100 reported 112m pounds of profit, the corresponding company this year reported just 78m pounds of profit.
