Abstract:The article introduces an empirical study exploring the expansion strategies of international leading hotel operators in Eastern Central Europe. Multivariate analysis of competitive and locational strengths is used to get insights into the relative positions of the major companies. The main ownership advantages were knowledge of customer requirements, strategic planning, and reservation systems. Locational advantages included the size and nature of the city, the region's infrastructure and the attractiveness of the region as a business destination.
