Abstract: | This article compares part-time work patterns among women in Great Britain (U.K.) and the United States (U.S.). Among others, the U.S. is found to be more purely neoliberal: women are expected to engage in paid employment irrespective of child care and other domestic responsibilities. In the U.K. women adapt to competing social and economic pressures by opting for part-time work in low status jobs etc. |
