| Abstract: | Self-service has revolutionized the process of selling and shopping during the 2000th century. The purpose of this paper is to describe the development of the self-service and supermarket innovation in Great Britain after the Second World War. The authors show the reasons why co-operative retailers were progressive in the adoption of self-service as a retail innovation. The paper presents also co-operative retailersÂ’ different interpretations of the innovation. |
