Abstract: | This paper deals with the issue of truth and knowledge (hereafter as: knw.) in management generally and particularly in knowledge management (KM). Based on ideas from critical realism and critical theory, it argues against the monovalent conceptualization of knw., aiming instead to develop a characterization recognizing the rich and varied ways in which human beings may be said 'to know'. It also conceptualizes a fundamental dimension of knw. generally ignored or cursorily treated within the literature, that is, 'truth'. Four forms of knw., that is, propositional, experiential, performative and epistemological are identified with exploration of their characteristics. |
