| Abstract: | Based on a sample of nearly 630 cross-border alliances (henceforth as: c-b-alls.) established by emerging economies firms (here as: e-e-fms.) across 25 manufacturing and service industries in more than 60 host countries from 1995 to 2004, this paper examines the effect of institutional (here as: inst.) factors on the adoption of equity alliance mode. This study contributes to empirical research in inst. theory, inst. explanations of c-b-alls. and strategic behaviour of e-e-fms. Among others, there is found support for inst. explanations of the adoption of equity alliance mode by e-e-fms. |
