Abstract: | This study contributes to critical understanding of how international business is resisted by developing a Neo-Gramscian approach that emphasizes the importance of informal or 'infra-political' processes. The existent conseptualizations demonstrate how international business is challenged via formal and organized political strategies in the firm, the state and civil society. The study understates the infra-political dimension and develops a theory of 'articulation' that broadens the understanding of how international business is resisted in both formal and informal ways. It shows how international business practices are often challenged by actors that do not have access to formal spaces of political engagement by drawing attention to informal types of resistance in the firm as well as the wider realms of the state and civil society. |
