| Abstract: | A review of changes in the engineering and construction industries, identifying the main trends and factors. The strategic options open to firms in this sector in response to new challenges is assessed and the organizational and managerial implications of the changes are analyzed. The study touches on structural changes in international trade, the collapse of international markets, major suppliers, government created obstacles, the recession impact on megaproducts and the internalization of project teams. Other aspects include strategic responses to environmental changes, meta-rules and cultural heterogeneity. One Figure and three Tables outline key success factors and evolution of export activities. |
