| Abstract: | The attitudes of 290 managers of small and medium-sized firms are concerning three ways of reacting to depressing economic situations, viz. to go international, to cooperate with others or to take consultants. The results are based on empirical studies conducted in Finland, Japan, South Africa and West-Germany. The main objective of these empirical research activities is to reveal factors of resistance within companies which would conflict with realizing the firms' envisaged reorganization strategies. Based on these results, approaches to the formation of managerial instruments are outlined for each country in order to increase the scope of the crisis management. |
