Abstract: | Business concepts require standardization of terminology. The meanings of the twelve most important criteria used by chain store buyers in their adoption of new non-food products are explained. Criteria include: expected profit; quick filling of repeat orders; product quality; retailer or dealer mark-up; meeting government regulations; competitive price; supplier's track record and initial supply capability; potential volume of sales; new products fitting new trends in the market; image; the trustworthiness of suppliers. Short examples are provided from a number of personal interviews conducted with purchasing executives. In addition a three-page questionnarie was used to get more information . |
