Abstract: | A survey of industrial companies explored the use of several types of management science models in several areas of human resource planning. It also solicited respondents' opinions and the potential advantages and disadvantages of using such models in this area. The survey found only very little such use of the models. Two reasons for not using models appeared to be especially important to the respondents: lack of cost-effectiveness and perceived complexity. One category of models overcoming these barriers is that of policy capturing models. These models explicitness represent the subjective judgements of decision makers. |
