| Abstract: | The article summarises the main developments on equal opportunities and the initiatives that have been taken by the EC under the action programme of the Social Charter. It is mainly concerned with equal opportunities at work between men and women. It gives an outline of the development starting with the 1957 EEC treaty of "equal pay for equal work" and continues up to the present measures taken within the European Community. |
