Abstract: | Bangkok has brought in a new coalition government after a year of scandals and slowing economic growth. Thailand has had a tough year. It has been battered and bruised by political and banking scandals, and slowing economic growth, a continuing substantial current account shortfall, attacks on the baht and the downgrading of its short-term debt by US rating agency= Moody's. Waning public confidence in the coalition government forced it to call new elections, held on 17 November. |
