Abstract: | Boonchai Bencharongkul collects elephants and old money. The Thai telecommunications tycoon has a full-size wooden replica of a bull in the foyer of his imposing office building in Bangkok. In the cabinets of his executive suite, smaller models compete for space with his sizable hoard of antique banknotes. Money and power: both flowed freely during Thailand's boom years, when Boonchai's United Communications Group soared with the rest of the economy. |
