Abstract:Work status (henceforth as: w-stat.) has an impact on emotional attachment to the organization. This is due to different ways in which the two categories of workers, contingent and regular, are treated in the same organization. This study aims to explore the effect of w-stat. on affective commitment (here as: aff-cmmt.) and how this relationship is influenced by identification processes. This study aims to extend the analysis by demonstrating that organizational identification (herein as: org-idn.) fully mediate the relationship btw. ww-stat. and aff-cmmt.
Survey data is gathered from contingent and regular workers in 14 high-rank Italian hotels. A test was performed for mediation based on a multiple regression analysis. Among others, the findings show that perceived external organizational image moderates the relationship btw. w-stat. and org-idn. etc.
