Abstract:The results of a study examining the relationships of culture to job satisfaction is reported. Groups of Thai managers were given sets of items drawn from three job satisfaction survey instruments and were asked to arrange the items as they thought appropriate, using a form of Q-sorting. The logic of structure revealed through this process was expected to demonstrate whether Thai managers have a unique perspective on job satisfaction that differed from the Western structure reflected in the original instruments. The Thai respondents were found to have a high degree of concern with personal growth and development, with the fit between the individual and the organization, with the characteristics of a satisfying job, with the social aspects of work.
