Abstract:This article describes the results of a two-year study and analysis of the leading chefs at France's most outstanding restaurants. The research explores why these chefs have attained an international reputation for being visionaries in their field. These three-star Michelin chefs turn out to be skilled entrepreneurs, running their restaurants as major financial operations, with all the concerns that being part of the luxury goods business in France entails. Given their undisputed success, the aim of this study was to find out how these outstanding French chefs are able to differentiate their firms from the thousands of other restaurants who are all contenders for the famed Michelin stars-and the financial success that distinction entails.
