Abstract:The study examines the factors that have an influence for leaving home. The analysis is based on two trends: the transition to adulthood and the difficulty of entering the labour market including several factors. The study was made using resource-oriented theoretical framework that allows us to elaborate the impact of employment-related resources of different actors. The life history data of two birth cohorts in West Germany is used in the analysis. The findings reveal that partnership status plays a significant role when it is examined how other actors like parental resources and unemployment, influences on the decision to leave home. Young adults in a partnership are more likely to leave home compared to young singles.
