| Abstract: | The privatization programme of the British government is taken as a starting point of analysis. Some of the theoretical issues involved with employee share ownership in the privatization situation is discussed. Employees' share purchase decision is examined while taking into account the characteristics of the situation (labor markets, unionization of the company, the monopoly power of the company, and that of the employees etc.). A simple mathematical model is developed to see whether employee share ownership should be beneficial in privatization. Beside the advantages, the problems and the risks of such types of programmes are considered. |
