Abstract:Using cultural capital (hereafter as: c-cap.), e.g. cultural heritage, paintings, music scores, cultural services (as: c-servs.) are provided by the c-servs. industry, e.g. museums, opera houses etc. New cultural goods created by individuals enlarge the c-cap. In a laissez-faire economy, individuals tend to ignore the positive external effects of their c-servs. consumption and creation of cultural goods. Consequently, suboptimally little cultural atmosphere and c-cap. will be accumulated.
