| Abstract: | Quality in the Value Chain. The comparison of quality techniques in the value chain of companies between Japan and the West, especially Europe, shows in many fields a leading position of Japanese enterprises concerning their integral and successful realization. The reason for this is the ability of the Japanese to concentrate on a comprehensive quality management, which means that not only some isolated parts of the enterprise but all essential elements, which are, or could be preconditions for the production of quality are taken into consideration. Company-wide continuous improvement efforts and the integration of supplier and customer value chains are considered as most important. It is particularly this aspect which European companies often neglect. Differences in the employment of quality techniques in Japanese and Western enterprises are dealt with. |
