Abstract:Can the region's mega cities find a way out of traffic gridlock? Yes, but their governments will need political will, long-term planning - and plenty of cash. After six years of commuting by bus, Malaysian bank officer Caroline Arokiasamy saved up enough money to buy her first car. So yet another vehicle squeezes onto Kuala Lumpur's already overcrowded roads, doing its bit to make the city's rapidly deteriorating traffic even worse. It's no different elsewhere in the region.
