Abstract:This article gives a national survey of UK-based automotive component firms, supported by interviews with car-makers and suppliers, and it is used to compare the effectiveness of Japanese and non-Japanese car assemblers' buyer-supplier relations. The survey indicates that buyer-supplier relations with Japanese car assemblers are regarded by component suppliers as better as their relationships with non-Japanese car assemblers in passing information working practices and developing better relationships through the supply chain.
