Abstract: | In this article, the issue of crisis management (hereafter as: crs-mgmt.) is explored within the arena of a major cross-cultural conflict around the merger of two giants in the international automobile industry, that is, the German-based Daimler-Benz and the American-based Chrysler Corporation. A paradigm of crs-mgmt. composed of four distinct phases, that is, the prodromal, acute, chronic crisis and crisis resolution, is used as the principal focus in the analysis. In conclusion, it is noted that DaimlerChrysler executives, German as well as American, must create a global organization reflecting shared values and purpose, while also honouring national differences. |
