Abstract:The new EU-regulation driven by the former European Competition Commissioner, Mario Monti, has changed the European automotive industry considerably. The dynamics of the car sales and servicing markets have increased, and because of this the market actors are dealing with much more uncertainty and complexity of competition. The article concentrates on the main issues coming up from the new Monti regulation and its effects on the market dynamics. The writers describe the main strategic implications of the new regulation for an importer of cars and spare parts in The Netherlands. The writers conclude building straight on the Theory of Dynamic Capabilities and strategic management that in order to succeed in highly dynamic markets companies must continuously obtain new information that follows the new market developments.
