Abstract: | After vertical dyad linkage (VDL) theory was presented, this theory has evolved into a dyadic approach to understanding supervisor-subordinate working relationship known as leader-member-exchange (LMX) theory. The dyad consists of a leader and a member of an organization. This study examines the development of LMX relationships using a model that extends and tests ideas presented in past models. Relationships between the quality of leader-member exchange and positive affectivity similarity, performance, and delegation was found. Good member performance may precede leader delegation. |
