| Abstract: | The understanding of the construct for empowerment and its underlying process are limited. These shortcomings are discussed by providing an analytical treatment of the construct and by integrating the diverse approaches to empowerment found both in the management and psychology literature. There is an identification of certain antecedent conditions of powerlessness and practices that have been hypothesized to empower subordinates. |
