Abstract:This paper proposes and argues for the view that exercising corporate responsibility, the epitome of corporate ethics, is not only possible but also necessary for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to become and remain successful in the global economy. Furthermore, by doing so, SMEs make significant contributions to improving globalization. The argument is illustrated by case studies of Rohner Textil AG, Switzerland and the Grameen Bank, Bangladesh.
