Abstract:Companies are experiencing growing pressures to incorporate corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles to their practices. This article tries to identify the risks that organisations may expose themselves when accepting novel and potentially open-ended CSR commitments by conducting two naturalistic studies: exploratory and corroborative. The CSR adoptation is found to be associated with at least seven different business risks. The managerial mitigation strategies to alleviate these risks are then discussed.
