Abstract:Many TV series are filmed in small rural communities often trying to deal with issues of rural decline. For these communities, increasing tourism is an extremely attractive option. Entrepreneurial film-tourism business activities e.g. guided tours, branded souvenirs, and guidebooks can also support the communities. However, the community may be left to deal with increased visitation and often a loss of privacy. Film companies have a vested interest in maintaining a positive relationship with the location communities, especially if they wish to continue filming. It is argued in this paper that there is the need to consider their responsibilities to the communities.
