Abstract:The purpose of this study is to examine the role of international entrepreneurship and innovation in small to medium-sized enterprise (here as: SME) internationalization. The study also scrapes the subject of the role of the firm size as a proxy of resources in the SME internationalization process. The authors explore the subject in the context of manufacturing companies, and argue that entrepreneurial SMEs that seek to enter international (here as: intl.) markets undertake organisational innovation which enables them to achieve higher marketplace performance. The results suggest that intl. SMEs are different from non-intl. SMEs in terms of intl. entrepreneurship, organisational innovation intensity and firnm size.
