Abstract:This study aims at exploring the challenges of the ethics and sociology working together in the research and policy formation on the life sciences. Existing collaboration between those two disciplines is used as a data set. The Aristotelian concept of 'phronesis' is used to provide a possible framework describing how the gap between disciplines can be bridged. In addition, the study provides ways of thinking about the fundamental differences between sociology and ethics. The concept of 'public sociology' is also discussed.
